Print-on-demand
YPD have introduced an innovative service which combines digital print on demand with our distribution service.
This is of particular relevance to the publishers of research reports, short run academic publications, monographs, self publishers and trial material.
The service provides significant cost benefits:
- Print just the number of copies for immediate requirements
- No wasted stock
- No wasted paper resources
- No wasted investment in stock
- Titles need never go out of print
- No storage charge
- No erratum slips
- Content easily amended and revisions made.
Digital printing and binding
We print and bind the quantity needed for your immediate use from your pdf files.
If there is an error in a report, or if you need to update a report, simply send a revised pdf file and we would replace the existing file. If it becomes necessary to waste stock, it is unlikely there would be more than 10 copies.
If you have an urgent request and we were holding insufficient stock, we reprint within 24 hours.
Order processing and order fulfilment.
- Titles are set up on our order processing system.
- Orders are forwarded to us by email, internet, post and fax.
- Publications could be free of charge or be priced.
Stock control
The stock and sales are controlled by our order processing system. We code each title with a critical stock level, possibly as low as 5 copies. When the stock falls to this level, the title will be flagged for a reprint. This happens automatically. You do not lose control of costs, as the critical stock and reprint figure would have been specified by you in advance.
Reporting
At the end of each month we do supply comprehensive sales and stock reports.
Finance and credit control
If the reports are priced, we handle all aspects of payment processing and if necessary credit control.
